Mongoose Crossway 350: Affordable Hybrid Bike

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

If you are looking for an affordable hybrid bike, then the Mongoose Crossway 350 is the one for you. This bike is just right for riding in upright position. It however cannot be used to ride on mountains as it features a large diameter wheel and treads that are not suitable for negotiating steep turns and slopes on the mountains. On a flat path, this bike is perfect.

As you ride this bike, one of the first things that strike you is the smooth shifting. This is made possible by the Shimano Alivio front derailers and the SRAM 5.0 rear. Though the seat post shock and the front shocks are not very impressive, you will find that it is better to have them in any case.

You also feel very relaxed in your position on the bike. This bike has SRAM grip shifters and 24 speed gearing. The handle bars can be adjusted according to your comfort level and the seat post comes with a quick release suspension. Other features of the Mongoose Crossway 350 include the RST 700-7 front shocks that are spring loaded providing for cushioning. Great comfort and flexibility is offered by the adjustable handlebars. It is important to ensure proper setting up of the handle bar assembly before you ride the bike after purchase.

Tires are the Cheng Shin 700 x 38C. These tyres offer excellent traction in dirt as they feature slits in them. The frame ensures the rider sits in a ‘forward’ position ensuring a good view of any obstacles ahead on the road. The Mongoose Crossway 350 is thus an ideal bike for those looking to enjoy non mountain rides.
